Description of cnc plasma cutting machine

CNC Princples
CNC machines automate machining tasks. Whether cutting a part out of sheet metal, drilling holes in it, or otherwise shaping it, there is a CNC machine for the job. Some CNC machines perform multiple operations. The design for the part is created via a Computer Aided Design (CAD) program, then loaded into the cutter's computer. After that, the machine takes over and shapes the part.

Plasma Cutting
Plasma is a gas that has been heated until the electrons escape from their atoms. While the gases used by plasma cutters can vary, the basic operating principle used by CNC variants is always the same. An electrode inside the nozzle of the cutter arcs electricity to the end of the nozzle, turning the gas being pumped through into a plasma. The conductive plasma then completes the circuit with the piece of metal being worked on, flowing down to cut it.

Putting it Together
CNC plasma cutters cut sheet metal using a plasma cutting nozzle mounted on two arms. One arm controls motion in the "x" dimension, and the other in the "y" dimension.
